A party in your training shoe :: Asics Gel-Fit Sana

If you want a training shoe (or even a versatile walking/bum around shoe), the Asics Gel-Fit Sana is the sneaker for you. It’s a fashionable and versatile shoe that is über comfortable and truly unlike any other sneaker I’ve ever owned.

Why I’m a fan

First, the Gel-Fit Sana fits like a glove (well, sock). It has an inner lining that runs the entire length of the shoe, running from the heel to the forefoot, providing adaptive support. Not only is the lining design comfortable for the support it provides but it removes the need for a tongue, which can often shift around, leading to ill fit and discomfort.

Second, it’s so light you really do feel like you’re wearing a sock. It harkens to barefoot running shoes, but with more comfort and cushioning.

Lastly, they look pretty cool. At first I was honestly not as thrilled when I found out that I was receiving the pink and purple combination – mainly because I already have some purple and pink kicks and saw some of the other colors that I preferred. Once they got here and I slipped the Gel-Fit Sanas on my feet, however, I was a quick convert. The webbing on the back, which to me mimics the Asics logo, is a cool touch. These guys are a lot of fun and make me feel like I have a comfy party on my feet.

My experience so far

I received the Gel-Fit Sanas in the mail just a few days before heading out of the country to Bangladesh and India for 2 weeks. While I contemplated bringing them with me, I also knew that there’s no way they would remain in remotely new condition (and they were too pretty to dirty up so quickly). So, I spent some time running all my pre-trip errands in them. They made all the galavanting around, even with my bum knee, feel like a walk in the park.

If I had to make one complaint, I’d say that these guys are not the best to spend a lot of time outside in super cold weather. I wore them today to run around NYC in the seemingly arctic temperatures and my toes froze. The lightness and airiness that make them so wonderful otherwise, don’t provide much of a buffer against the cold. That said, I’m not sure much of any shoe would have helped today. I clicked my heels together a few times today saying “Take me back to Goa.”

In all, I love the Asics Gel-Fit Sana. It’s super cute and super comfortable.
